Privacy policy

This is a small site for a self-published author. It does not run advertising, it does not profile you, and it does not sell anything about you to anyone. What follows is the whole of it, in plain language.
What is collected
Only what you type into the contact form, and only when you press send:
- your name
- your email address
- your message
- whether you ticked the box asking to hear about new books
- your IP address and browser user-agent, recorded automatically with the submission — used to limit abuse of the form, nothing else
Browsing the site collects nothing. There are no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no advertising cookies. This site sets no cookies of its own at all.
Why, and for how long
Your message is used to reply to you. If you ticked the newsletter box, your email is also kept so Janette can tell you when a new book is out. Nothing is used for any other purpose.
Submissions are stored on the website's own server and emailed to Janette. They are kept only as long as they are useful for replying to you or for the mailing list you asked to join — ask, and they are deleted.
Who else sees it
Nobody is sold or given your details. Three services necessarily handle traffic in the course of running the site:
- Cloudflare — serves the site and filters malicious traffic, so it processes connection data such as your IP address.
- Google Fonts — two typefaces are loaded from Google's servers, which means Google sees the request. We intend to serve these from our own server so that stops being true.
- Google (Gmail) — contact-form notifications are emailed to the author's mailbox.
Buying links take you to Amazon or IngramSpark. Once you leave this site you are covered by their privacy policies, not this one. We receive nothing about what you do there.
Children
The books are for children; this website is written for the adults who buy them. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and it will be deleted.
Your rights
You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted — including unsubscribing from book news. There is no form to fill in and no reason you need to give. Get in touch and it will be done.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
